She sits alone in her dreaming
As lost as the lonely sea
She lives in the past and the future
And in worlds that are never to be

She gazes across the water
And yearns for the power to fly
To the land beyond the sunset
The prison wall of the sky

In her face is the pride of her youth
In her body lies unborn love
In her eyes I see darkness and sunlight
Reflecting the skies above

Her limbs have the glow of the morning
The grace of a strength untried
In the treacherous currents of life
The remorseless flow of the tide

She is lithe and fresh and youthful
Through eternally passing years
But the trembling silence of songs unsung
Is the only music she hears

She sits alone in her dreaming
As lost as the lonely sea
She lives in the past and the future
And in worlds that are never to be
